The Story Behind JustGoBloom

By Ali Alchaddad B.

It Started With Ambition

JustGoBloom didn’t start with an app idea. It started with Ali Alchaddad B., a 17-year-old computer science student who wanted to build something of his own.

The first plan was a social media marketing agency — running Instagram and social accounts for local businesses. It was a way to start something, to learn how to run a real operation. But the direction shifted after a conversation with a friend who had built his own Pomodoro timer from scratch. That friend was the one who told him to stop working on someone else’s brand and start his own thing. That was the push.

The Spreadsheet

The idea was already sitting there in plain sight. At the time, Ali was tracking his own daily habits in an Excel spreadsheet — rows and columns, checkmarks, streaks. It worked, but it was lifeless. Just data.

He had always liked gamification, and he had always liked building things and watching them take on a digital life of their own. So the question became obvious: why not turn habit tracking into a game? Why not make it something you could actually watch grow?

That’s the idea behind JustGoBloom. It’s a game-like habit tracker, but it’s also a metaphor. The more your trees grow, the more it signifies how much you’ve grown as a person. Your garden isn’t just a progress chart — it’s a reflection of the work you’ve put into yourself.

From Idea to Web App

JustGoBloom began as a PWA — a web app anyone could open in their browser, no download required. Just code, design, and testing with friends.

The core idea was simple: plant a goal, and it becomes a tree. Show up every day and it grows through stages — seed, sprout, sapling, all the way to a towering ancient tree. Miss too many days and it starts to wilt. Your consistency, made visible.

Building a Community

Growth didn’t come from ads. Ali and his CMO, Filip Ioan Mocanu, went out into the streets of Montreal and pitched JustGoBloom to strangers face to face.

To grow on social media, Ali had to get creative. He started with skits, animations, and educational posts on Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube. Elsewhere the approach was different: writing articles on Medium, and on Reddit, taking part in communities — posting, commenting, and joining conversations.

Then came another idea: give other young ambitious people a platform to share their stories and gain recognition, and hopefully inspire the youth in the process. That became "Interviewing Young Hustlers."

Through consistent posting and interviews, more people came to recognize the brand. It followed the same principle behind the app itself: show up, stay consistent, and growth follows. The audience grew the way a tree does — gradually, then visibly.

Now on the App Store

JustGoBloom is now a native iOS app, available free on the App Store. It has seven tree types, three visual themes, a built-in journal, streak tracking, and support for English, French, and Portuguese — all built from that original spreadsheet idea.

What’s Next

There’s still a long way to go. More tree types, more growth stages, garden customization, and other features are in the works. But the mission stays the same: turn your goals into something you can watch grow, one day at a time.

Grow your goals into living trees

JustGoBloom is a free habit tracker where your goals become trees. Show up daily, watch them grow.
